Groom of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Holidays: March 19 and May 1 San Giuseppe worker. Joseph of the lineage of David lived in Nazareth and worked as a carpenter. He married Mary and was putative father of Jesus. Quoted only in the Gospels of Childhood, he is likely to have died before the beginning of Jesus' public life. Generally represented as a mature or elderly man, among his attributes, a flowered stick and carpenter tools. The figure of a mature man, much older than Mary, is dictated by the need to highlight the divine fatherhood of Christ.
